Ruang Literasi Kaliurang

Ruang Literasi Kaliurang (RLK) is a community literacy and public learning space in Pakem, Sleman, on the northern outskirts of Yogyakarta. Officially opened in February 2025, RLK was initiated by Willy Aditya, a literacy advocate and member of the Indonesian House of Representatives. He transformed part of his personal property into a public space dedicated to reading, discussion, and community activities. Surrounded by the cool atmosphere of the Kaliurang area, RLK welcomes visitors of all ages and has quickly become a popular destination for students, researchers, book lovers, and creative communities.

What’s Inside Ruang Literasi Kaliurang

The highlight of Ruang Literasi Kaliurang is its library, home to over 10,000 books on literature, history, culture, politics, philosophy, religion, and social studies. Visitors can read for free in a cozy setting that encourages learning and reflection.

Besides the library, Ruang Literasi Kaliurang offers discussion rooms, a mini cinema, children’s reading areas, a pendopo, an outdoor plaza, podcast studios, and community spaces that often host workshops, seminars, cultural events, and public discussions.

Entrance Fee

There is no entrance fee to visit Ruang Literasi Kaliurang, so everyone can visit. If you’d like, you can support the space by making a donation or joining community programs. Ruang Literasi Kaliurang is open every day from 9 AM to 9 PM.

How to Get There

You can find Ruang Literasi Kaliurang in Bondosari, Harjobinangun, Pakem, Sleman, Yogyakarta, about 20 to 25 kilometers north of Yogyakarta’s city center. It usually takes 45 to 60 minutes to get there by car or motorcycle, depending on traffic. You can reach the venue via Jalan Kaliurang or Jalan Palagan, then continue toward the Kaliurang area.
