MuseumKu Gerabah

MuseumKu Gerabah was opened in 2023 by renowned Indonesian artist Timbul Raharjo and is located in Kasongan, Bantul, Yogyakarta’s most famous pottery village. The museum showcases the rich tradition of pottery and ceramic craftsmanship that has made Kasongan known throughout Indonesia and internationally. 

Combining a museum, art gallery, restaurant, and interactive workshop space, MuseumKu Gerabah offers visitors the opportunity to experience all the ceramic art collections, learn about local craft traditions, and participate in hands-on pottery-making activities. It is an ideal destination for families, students, art enthusiasts, and anyone interested in Yogyakarta’s creative heritage.

Entrance Ticket

Entrance ticket to MuseumKu Gerabah is free of charge. However, visitors are required to make a minimum purchase of IDR 25,000 per person at the on-site restaurant or café. This concept allows visitor to enjoy both the museum experience and the culinary offerings.

What to See & Do

Visitors will find a wide range of artistic pottery, ceramic sculptures, decorative crafts, and modern ceramic artworks made by local artists. The museum’s architecture and exhibition areas are also attractive, making them favorite places for photography.

A main attraction is the hands-on workshops, where visitors can learn to shape clay, make their own pottery, and paint ceramic pieces with help from skilled instructors. These activities help people better understand Kasongan’s long pottery tradition.

Kasongan Context

MuseumKu Gerabah is located in Jl. Kasongan No. 1, Kajen, Bangunjiwo, Kasihan, Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta, approximately 20–25 minutes from Yogyakarta city center. A community widely recognized as Yogyakarta’s largest pottery and ceramics center. For decades, local artisans have produced handmade pottery, decorative ceramics, and export-quality crafts that are distributed throughout Indonesia and internationally.
