Plunyon Kalikuning is a nature destination in Cangkringan, Sleman, on the southern side of Mount Merapi. The area is famous for its bridge over the Kalikuning River, surrounded by rocky riverbanks, pine forests, trekking trails, and beautiful mountain views. Originally built in 1982 and 1983 for irrigation, the bridge has become one of the most photographed spots around Merapi.

Entrance Fee

Domestic visitors pay an entrance fee of IDR 12,000 per person, while international visitors pay IDR 155,000 per person. Parking fees depend on the type of vehicle you bring.

What to Do

You can stroll along the river trails, cross the well-known suspension bridge, and check out the rocky riverbanks formed by Mount Merapi’s volcanic activity. This spot is popular with nature photographers, thanks to the bridge, pine forests, and Mount Merapi as stunning backdrops. It’s also a great place for an easy hike, birdwatching, a picnic, or simply relaxing by the river and enjoying the fresh mountain air. How to Get There

Plunyon Kalikuning sits in the Kalikuning area of Cangkringan, Sleman. It takes about 25 minutes to get there from Kaliurang, or about an hour from Yogyakarta city center. You can reach the destination by private car, motorcycle, taxi, or by using online transportation services.
