Wonderful Indonesia gastronomy 2026

Indonesia’s food culture is richer and more varied than most people realize. By preserving our culinary traditions, we can highlight what makes Indonesia stand out. The Ministry of Tourism is helping with this through the Wonderful Indonesia Gastronomy program, which aims to put Indonesia on the map as a leading food destination.

Indonesia’s Tourism Minister, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, launched Wonderful Indonesia Gastronomy (WIG) 2026 at Pura Mangkunegaran in Surakarta. Indonesia invites people from around the world to experience its culinary diversity at WIG 2026, which will be held from September 26 to October 4, 2026.

Wonderful Indonesia Gastronomy 2026 will bring together tastemakers, international media such as Forbes Travel Guide, La Liste, and The World’s 50 Best, and top culinary experts.

Wonderful Indonesia Gastronomy aims to make food a key attraction for quality tourism, open up more opportunities for Indonesian chefs and culinary professionals, and help Indonesian cuisine earn global recognition and compete internationally.

Wonderful Indonesia Gastronomy started in 2025 as “Wonderful Indonesia Gourmet” and became Wonderful Indonesia Gastronomy in 2026. WIG 2026 is more than a new name. It reflects a wider vision and a stronger commitment to exploring Indonesia’s rich culinary identity.

WIG brings together the people behind these stories: farmers, artisans, chefs, researchers, entrepreneurs, and storytellers. By connecting them, WIG 2026 aims to build a more inclusive and resilient food scene that supports destinations and creates opportunities for communities across Indonesia.

Ladosan Dhahar Experience at Royal Ambarrukmo

Royal Ambarrukmo took part in the Wonderful Indonesia Gastronomy event in Yogyakarta on September 28, 2026. At the event, Royal Ambarrukmo presented Ladosan Dhahar, a program from Ambarrukmo Atisomya (Royal Moment Experiences).

The program gives guests a dining experience inspired by the royal heritage and traditions of the Yogyakarta Palace. At Wonderful Indonesia Gastronomy, Royal Ambarrukmo showcased this special blend of culture and cuisine.

Ladosan Dhahar is a traditional dish that was once served to the King and his family at the Yogyakarta Palace. Royal Ambarrukmo keeps this tradition alive by serving dishes enjoyed by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono VII and passed down to Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX.

This experience helps guests share Yogyakarta’s story as a place known for its rich food traditions and unique cultural heritage.
